are made of different materials which work together.
BRICKS made of straw and mud. Straw by itself is weak, and so is mud, but mixed the make a very strong building block.
PAPER MACHE is made of weak glue and thin paper. The glue itself is made of weak water and flour.
BAKELITE is made of soft resin and flour. When the resin is nearly set, flour is added, then the
compound is moulded under heat and pressure.
TIRES are made mainly of
rubber plus tire black, or soot. Other ingredients are included, but
none of them are tough enough by themselves.
FIBREGLASS is made from
thin glass fibres, plus resin. Both materials are quite tough, but
together they make boat hulls, rods, masts and other very strong shapes.
BONE is similar to fibreglass
in its design, but bone is superior in design. The fibres are
microscopic and the 'resin' mixed with the fibres is self-repairing.
BONE resist breaking because
of the fibres running through it. Just as a leaf will not tear
across the fibres, a bone will also stop short at the longways fibres
built into its structure.
