James gives us the cure for pride - humility. But what exactly is humility?

It is the opposite to being proud,
It is being aware of your shortcomings,
It is meekness,
It is knowing your rights and other people's too,
It is showing respect to all people, no matter what their rank or income,
It is being honest with yourself and not pretending to be what you are not,

A humble person doesn't chase promotion, or importance, or praise, or recognition. A humble person is modest, never brags, and is always quick to praise others.

The best way to find humility is to:

If we submit to God, we automatically put ourselves In our right place in the universe. If we don't submit to God, we leave ourselves open to pride, and to Satan.

As with most things, God's ways tend to go in the opposite way to the world's. One would think that, to get to the top, you would need to promote yourself, and generally strive for the limelight but God says if you want to Increase you must first aim at decreaslng. The world chooses the WIDE GATE, but Christians choose the NARROW GATE. The world chooses WORKS but Christlans choose GRACE.

MARRIAGE or PARTNERS
OBEDIENCE or REBELLION
GIVING or GETTING
FORGIVENESS or REVENGE
etc etc.
