"Are they the seeds?" asked Turran.

"Looks like it," said Brad.

"What do you think they'll do? Drop off?"

"Maybe. It puzzles me though, how this thing could have come from space. If it makes seeds that rely on gravity, how does it send its seeds away from a planet? It has to get them up to an impossible speed as to escape the pull of the planet's gravity? It couldn't do that."

"It might have come from a small planet, with hardly any gravity."

"Yes, that's one way, but I think there's more to it. I have a hunch that we haven't seen the last stage in this plant's life cycle yet. I think the life-cycle is more complicated than we thought."

Turran finished his drink and dropped the can in a bag.

"So what do we do now?"

"Wait another day."

"Must we?"

"Yes. This thing's too important to miss."

"I'm getting a bit tired of watching a plant grow Dad."

"You'll just have to be patient then. I'm not leaving until I see the whole cycle right through. I know you want to go home. So do I. But sometimes things come along ..."

He didn't finish. There was a smell in the air. It was sweet, and thick, and it seemed to roll like a wave over everything.

"I ..." said Turran.

He stood up and fell coughing against the vehicle.

'Try not to breath!" gasped Brad.

The smell reached into their minds, filling and flooding their senses. It was drawing them towards the plant. Every effort they made to move away was met by an inner resistance in their body. They staggered away from the vehicle and fell to the ground, trying to stay conscious. The perfume oozed through them, possessing their bodies, drawing them towards the ruins of the broken plant, but they resisted.
