"I designed the woman's tomb," said Tammy's mother, "I want to make sure my instructions were carried out."

"When they reached the tomb of the unknown woman, they saw that the bones had been covered with clothes, all made like the ones the woman might have worn. And on her head was a mask, with eyes that looked real. She had jewelry on her wrists, made of gold, and silver and precious stones, and her hair was braided. On her ears were rings of bright beads, made of blue lapis lazuli, elegant and wonderfully made.

"She was beautiful," said Tammy, gazing at the woman.

"Yes," said Tammy's mother, "But there is something missing."

Tammy saw right away what her mother meant. Right in the middle of the woman's chest, where the necklace curved with stone after stone, was a gap right in the middle. The clasps were bent outwards where a stone used to be.

"The necklace isn't finished," said Tammy sadly," The poor lady."

And the more Tammy looked at the place where the missing jewel should have been, the more she thought about the gift her mother had given to her when she was only three. It was a precious stone, which her mother had been given as a family heirloom.

Tammy reached under her collar and pulled on a thin chain. On the end of the chain was the pendant. A smooth, red stone, shaped like a heart, and very old.

"I think this should go there," she whispered to her mother.

"I do too," said her mother, unlocking the glass doors in front of the tomb exhibit.

The doors slid aside and Tammy's mother slipped the red camelian into the gap on the necklace. She carefully closed the clasps over the stone and then shut and looked the doors again.

"Now she is happy," said Tammy, smiling as she and her mother walked away.
