On the way home, Mum started thinking out loud. "I wonder why he stuck his will behind that picture?" she said.

"He didn't want anyone to find it!" said Jodey.

"No," said Mum. "I think it was the other way round."

"But if he wanted someone to find it," said Jodey, "why would he hide it?"

"Exactly," said Mum. "He must have wanted just one person in particular to find it."

"Who?" asked the boys together.

"Granny, of course. She would be the only one who would care about the old photograph, so she was the most likely one to find the will."

"Maybe she was the only one who really loved him, too?" said Nip.

"Maybe," said Mum.

But granny wasn't listening. She had her head back against the seat and her eyes closed. She was sleeping peacefully as Mum drove her back to her little flat across town.
