The time ran out, so God shut Noah, his family, and the
animals inside the ark. For about a year the ark floated
on the worldwide flood. Under the ark the water laid
down silt, mud, stones and soil on top of the millions of
dead plants and animals. These sediments eventually
became the sedimentary rock whick comprises most
of the present land above sea level - and the remains
are the fossils, coal, and oil deposits.
