FOR OLDER CHILDREN. MAKE SURE MUM OR DAD APPROVE

Are you the inventive sort? DO you like tinkering with things?If you are and do...hers's an idea or two...

Ask Dad for help with this one. You can do a lot with a small smoldering iron a set of tools, some lacing wire, a few pieces of solid wood, and maybe a battery and wire.

Start by getting some old, or defunct radios, telephones, cake-mixers and any other useless gadget which are safe to dismantel. Take them completely apart, and put all the different bits into groups. You can store the screws, washers, springs, and so on, in different jars.

Now, Start fiddling. See what you can build... perhaps a bell-ringing device for your bedroom door, or a silly thing, wich clicks, turns, lights up a small bulb, and does nothing useful.

Tinkering can be fun, and you never know what you can come up with.
