Make a Simple Lantern

All you need is a piece of paper, glue ( or sellotape ). A ruler, a pencil, and a pair of scissors.

1. Fold the paper in half
2. Rule some lines
3. Now cut all the lines
4. When you unfold the sheet, bend it the other way and glue the top and bottom

Hints: you can use coloured paper, or make really big lanterns, or cut the strips much more thinly.

When you have made your lantern, try different sizes and colours of paper and see what sort of different shapes you can make.
