Preview of Handout: Wording of this Handout:How to win an arumentSometimes Christians get into discussions or debates with unbelievers over such things as whether there is life on other planets, or whether all religions are basically the same, or whether humans will use science to solve every problem . . . and the subject gets bogged down because neither side knows enough to convince the other side that they are right. One of the best ways I have ever found to defeat the opponent in such a case is to switch to talking about Jesus. When you think about it, Jesus solves every problem. He came to earth and claimed to be our God and our Creator. He worked miracles which defy all known science. He said Man needed to be saved and redeemed, which cuts right across the argument that Man is an animal. Jesus predicted his own death and then conquered death - something which no other spiritual leader has ever done. In every way Jesus presents the most powerful piece of evidence in any argument, because He forced people to look at himself, and he claimed to be God. Which means that, until people make up their minds about what they are going to do with Jesus - worship or shun him - all other arguments are slightly irrelevant! I mean, why worry about the paint job when the ship is sinking! The Bible says: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 1:17 (King James Version) |
