Building skills

Why doesn't an igloo fall down? Because all the blocks are angled inwards so they all rest against each other right to the top. Why doesn't a cathedral with buttresses fall outwards? Because the buttresses transfer the weight to the ground. Why doesn't a suspension bridge collapse with the weight of the road? Because every cable carries some of the weight and then the main supports take the weight downwards.

Wise building produces good results. Knowing what to use and where to use it leads to success. Understanding materials, and using them the right way, leads to stability. All good buildings display wisdom.

The same can be said for a life. If we understand what God is like, we can relate to Him correctly. If we know what we are like, we can be on guard against our sinful nature. If we know how the Holy Spirit works, we can work in His power. If we get to know Jesus, we can be more like him.

God wants you to build your life wisely, and not make a mess of it - like so many people around you do. Think of some of the things unbelievers do to ruin their lives - they are not building wisely are they? Are you caring for your health? Are you working towards good goals? Are you learning new skills?

Building is something everyone does, whether they like it or not, and the final product is something worthwhile or rubbish.
