Don't be a lazybones

There’s nothing wrong with having a holiday, and there’s nothing wrong with taking time off for rest and recreation, play and hobbies, but there IS something wrong with wanting to have a holiday every day and never working at all. That is called laziness, and it is not encouraged by God in His Word.Laziness is bad for your health because our bodies need exercise to stay strong. Walking is good for the heart. Even mowing the lawn or weeding the garden is good for your health.Laziness is unproductive. Even Adam and Eve were told by God to “dress and keep” the garden of Eden. This means they had a daily task of tending, or caring for the orchard, and also guarding it, which implies that it needed protection. So the first work on earth was gardening - it wasn’t back-breaking toil, but pleasurable work amongst the beautiful surroundings of a perfect creation.Laziness in the Lord’s work means that many people who might be reached for Christ never are. Lazy Christians are like a lead weight round the Lord’s neck. They also do themselves no good either because they never grow to maturity.The Bible says “We urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle e courage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” I Thessalonians 5:14 (New International Version)
