God understands

One reason why God became a man and lived for about 30 years as a human, is because we can believe Him when He says He knows what its like to be a human.

Just think about some of the things Jesus went through.

He had a Mum and a Dad. He grew up from being a baby. He had to eat, and sleep, work and rest. He had brothers and sisters, so he must have heard them scrapping. We are sure his parents loved him but his father died somewhere during his life. He had to work hard, cutting wood and he with the carpentry. He lived in a community which was not wealthy so he was used to simple things - home made bread, goat's milk, water, plain meals.
He had to go to school with the other boys from his village and sit for hours at the feet of the rabbi, learning scriptures. He was used to being in the weather - hot, dry summers, and freezing winter nights. His bed was a simple blanket and probably a thin mattress. He walked everywhere, and he carried heavy loads on his shoulders.
He was probably disliked by many people because he was always kind, helpful and good - something which gets on people's nerves.

So whatever happiness or trouble, pain or loneliness, joy or anger you are going through, Jesus has had the same feelings, and felt the same pains - but without sinning.

The Bible says "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." Hebrews 4:15 (King James Version)
