Gluttony

When you mention gluttony, most people think you are talking about food, but gluttony can mean collecting, or gathering too much of anything.

Food gluttony - overeating frequently, can lead to obesity and an early death, not to mention many physical problems.
Alcohol gluttony, drinking too much, can lead to number of horrible diseases.
Smoking gluttony can end with addiction, poverty, and other problems.
Collecting gluttony, be it toys, phone cards, junk, any object whatsoever, or videos of a favorite show, can lead to poverty, or antisocial behavior, or any number of complaints. Some people call it hoarding, or covetousness, or greed.
Money gluttony can end with loneliness and isolation.

Some people have power gluttony, or prestige gluttony. Some people go for success, or honors, or recognition. They just can't get enough!

Whenever we start to crave more and more of anything, we are heading into gluttony.

The good news is it is just human nature to be never satisfied with what we have. It is normal to always want more. It is normal to always want what we haven't got. We are like vacuum cleaners, sucking up what we desire as fast as we can get it - but we never get filled up.

Enough is all we really need, but it sometimes takes a whole lifetime to realize this.

The Bible says: "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" 2 Corinthians 9:8
