For example, I met a man who told me this story: "I was depressed as low as I could go. My wife had left me because of my bad ways, and I was broke. I got a gun and went to a telephone box, to ring my wife and tell her goodbye, then I was going to shoot myself." I wandered the streets for a while, then I found a telephone and went in. I started to dial, but as I was dialling I saw a sticker on the wall. It said "Smile! God loves you!" "The words seemed to burn right into my heart. I realised that all was not lost as long as God loved me. Tears began to flow, and then suddenly I heard my wife on the phone. I must have finished dialling, and now she was asking who was there!" "I told her I was coming home again, and explained what had happened. My wife said she would let me have another chance, and we prayed together on the phone. Now my marriage is back together and I'm a Christian.' The Bible says: "And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God" Luke 9:43 (King James Version) |
