Preview of Handout:![]() Wording of this Handout:How some people are saved ( 4 of 4 )When I was a little boy Mum used to take me and my sister to church every Sunday. I used to help her push the pram when we walked up the hill to get home after the service. I think Mum went to church because it was 'the thing to do', and not because she was a Christian, but God knows our hearts so I'll leave that one alone. Anyway, I became a Christian when I was about 5, at Sunday school. The teacher, a woman called Paula, was good at communicating the gospel and telling Bible stories, and I understood enough to know what I was doing. My grandmother gave me a Bible some time after that (King James Version) and I remember reading a chapter a day for years, even when I hardly understood a word of it! Like veggies, although I didn't like it, I'm sure it was good for me. When I was about 16 I became a disciple of Jesus. There is a big difference between being a Christian and a disciple. You might like to find out what the difference is. In my experience, most Christians I meet are not disciples. But the point is, there is hardly any age at which God cannot speak to us. We must never think "Oh, that child is too young to understand the gospel", because there are children as young as three or four who can explain John 3: 16 clearly enough to show they are saved! The Bible says: "Come, you children, hearken to me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD" Psalm 34:11 (King James Version) |
