Preview of Handout: Wording of this Handout:Eyes and earsThere are many people in this world who think that God cannot see or hear them. They are like that silly comedian who puts his hands on his face and says “I can’t see you, so you can’t see me!” Things don’t disappear when we are not looking at them, and, for that matter, a tree makes a loud crash when it falls in a forest, even if we don’t hear it. Having decided that God will conveniently disappear if we ignore Him, people get on with their self-centered, sinful lives, feeling confident that they have “dealt with God” and that God now has no choice but to quietly retreat and leave them to it. How utterly stupid! This kind of thinking is illogical, unreasonable and totally inconsistent with the real world. For example, does the traffic disappear off the road if we ignore it? Does rain stop soaking us if we decide it isn’t there? Do we breathe underwater and not drown if we decide there is no such thing as water? And think of this point too: We have eyes and ears, to see and hear with. It seems very logical that if we have eyes and ears, then God can probably see and hear too, since He made us. The Bible says: “He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?” Psalm 94:9 (King James version) |
