Immigrants

When people live in a certain part of the world for long enough, they start to think of it as "their country", and forget that their ancestors were once immigrants. Then, when other people come to visit their country, they are seen as "foreigners"!

This would be quite funny if it were not that people can often be quite nasty towards foreigners. The Klu Klux Klan considers white-skinned people to be superior to black-skinned people, and many wars (i.e. Hitler against the Jews) have been waged by one nation against another simply because of cultural and appearance differences.

All these problems would disappear if people accepted the fact that we all come from the same family! Noah's family came from Adam and Eve's family, and their family came from God's creation. This means that every person in the world is related to every other person.

God told His people Israel to be considerate towards visitors and immigrants, probably because the Israelites were beginning to forget where everyone comes from.

The Bible says: "When a foreigner lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him." Leviticus 19:33 (New International Version)
