Preview of Handout:![]() Wording of this Handout:Healing miraclesWhen Jesus went about teaching and preaching, he also healed people of all and every kind of sickness He did this first of all because tie loved people, and secondly because the miracles were proof to show that he was who he said he was. I think what we may miss here is the enormous number of healings, and the incredible range of sickness which Jesus dealt with. Thousands of people followed Jesus. They came like a cloud over the land, pouring into the valleys and spreading over the hills, and the most popular man in the world was surrounded at times by sick, suffering, dirty, dying, crippled people of all ages, all trying to get close to him. (This is NOT the sort of popularity most people want!) But Jesus healed them all. People with no legs grew new legs, people with no arms grew new arms. Dead people sat up and talked, people with cancers, and goiters, and deformities, and withered organs received new flesh, healthy and clean. People bent with spinal injuries, crooked with diseases, stunted by cancer or leprosy or brain-damage. . . people with no eyes found new eyes in their heads, people with no eardrums could suddenly hear. . . it was an utterly amazing thing to watch Jesus at work. And not a single case was too difficult for him. The Bible says: "Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with different diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them". Luke 4:40 |
