Wording of this Handout:

Changing bit by bit

In some ways, when we come to Jesus - even the very best of us - we are like wild animals. We think the wrong way, and we believe all sorts of rubbish, and our habits and tastes are quite often all going the wrong way too.

So Jesus has a lot of work to do to get us like Himself.

How does He do this? Bit by bit. He never does an instant all-over clean-up job. He never turns a sinner into a saint in five minutes, or five days, or even five years.

Because it takes a long time to change someone who has been living one way into someone wt lives another.

So many things have to change. Habits, ways of thinking, attitudes, wrong decisions, past mistakes which keep coming back to cause trouble, and the every day sins. So how do we cope with this change time? Simple. When we make a mistake, we tell God. We say sorry and we ask God to help us not make that mistake again. And every time we do this we become a little more like Jesus.

The Bible says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 (New King James version)
