Faith

When you step into a lift, you have faith that it will lift or lower you to the floor you want. When you get into a taxi you have faith that the driver will not get lost. When you read a road map, you have faith that the roads and names match the real city. When you buy food from a shop you have faith that it will not be poisonous. When your friends tell you something you have faith that they are truthful. When you dive into the swimming pool you have faith that you will be able to swim because it looks like normal, ordinary water.

So you see, you use faith every day in many ways. Faith is not just trusting in something, but doing something based on that trust.

You could stand beside a lift for hours believing that it was safe, but just believing would be a waste of time. The same goes for the taxi, the road map, the food from the shop, the news from your friends, and the pool.

When we become Christians, God wants us to have faith in His promises, and then live as if they were true. That’s what exercising your faith means.
