Written 20 years ago, but still one of my faves. I think the lines ending with double syllables produce a breathless urgency, hurtling the story to its conclusion. After 20 years, I finally tweaked the final stanza that bothered me with extra syllables.

I was reflecting on the temptation of Jesus and struck by the fact that Jesus said "No" to Satan and chose the way to Calvary
