OUR GUIDE AND COMFORTER

God is our guide, because He knows where we should go
He gives us the chance to make a mistake, and through it to grow
God is also our comforter when life seems too rough
Through trials and tragedies, when we think we have had enough

By accepting Christ, we acquire our greatest friend
Someone that someday we may fully comprehend
When we suffer the loss of someone we deeply love
We can count on reassurance from our God above

He mourns with us, cries with us, and wipes away our tears
In our time of sadness we need more than just our peers
He will embrace us in His arms and help us to get by
Though He may not answer the burning question “why”

Gain strength from the knowledge that God is truly with you
No matter how bad it may seem, He will always see you through
When we come to a crossroad in life, to whom should we turn
We realize it’s a new experience from which we must learn

God knows the path along which we are to narrowly walk
This means He keeps a close eye on each member of His flock
He will guide you carefully, preparing you along the way
But be forewarned, He will let you know when you disobey

This is your audition, for the part you’ll play in Heaven
By accepting Christ, you can proclaim you are a citizen
God has high standards of which you can never attain
When you meet Him face to face, ask Him to explain

Call them triumphs and tragedies, the roads we choose to walk
They are part of the growing pains, of a sheep from Jesus’ flock
Now you understand why Jesus joyfully calls you friend
To all, His special friendship, I pray you will recommend.
