My Friend

For quite some time I have prayed for a true friend…
Why it took so long I can not comprehend.

You were right there for months, right under my nose…
But for some reason our friendship didn’t transpose.

But then one day the Lord took control…
He decided it was time for my heart to console.

A little bird told me you needed a friend…
So I came to you, with my heart to extend.

I was unsure the first day that I knocked at your door…
Little did I know I would have a friend forever more.

You touched my life that very first day…
The happiness it brought me I can not convey.

So many things our hearts seem to share…
More than anyone else I have found anywhere.

You feel more like a sister than a friend…
No doubt about, it you are a godsend.

I hope my dear friend that you will always know…
How you being my friend makes my heart glow.

I will always be there no matter what…
Especially the times when you get in a rut.

Please know that I am here for you…
In good times or bad, I will see you through.
