THE LEAST
by Stan Arney © 2007

Have you ever wondered what you would do if you met Jesus
Would your sins force you to drop to your knees and confess
How would you treat Him, what would you say, what would you think
Would you offer Him shelter, clothes, some food or a drink

It would be an incredible experience that’s true
But what if this has already happened to you
Because Jesus has told us in a not too subtle way
That you could meet Him anytime, maybe even today

For the way we treat others has a cause and effect
We shall be sorry for our mistreatment or our neglect
When you read about the homeless people on the street
Do you think about how they may need something to eat

When you see someone stranded, whose car has broken down
Does your heart fill with mercy and you take them into town
When you hear about the orphaned children and their plight
Does it make you want to do more than for just one night

When you see someone who seems mentally not all there
Does your heart fill with compassion, cause you really care
You see someone physically challenged to get through a door
Does it make you run and help them or do you simply ignore

When a child is lost, do you give comfort while others search
Do you welcome all sinners into your home and church
As Jesus said, what you do to the least you do to me
This for many should be a very harsh reality

When you stand before Him, will He be ashamed of you
Well, the good news it’s not too late for me or for you
Treat others with the same compassion and love, as does Jesus
The world will be a much better place for all of us.
