Bloodshed for a Sinner
by Nicky Dalbeth

He was tortured and taunted,
His body was broken,
He hung on that cross to die,
His blood was shed,
He had thorns on his head,
Our souls he had to buy.

He bore the pain of the world,
Was made sin for us,
So that we may have life,
He went through all that,
Yet we turned away,
Took the wide road leading to strife.

Thought I could live on my own,
do things my own way,
not wanting help from above,
Why didn't I care,
I always knew he was there,
Wanting to share his love.

I was captivated by
The world and it's charms,
All it's deception and lure,
I can't understand
His perfect love for me
When I am so impure.

Oh dear, sweet Jesus,
Forgive me, my Lord
I'll never again deny thee,
I love you, Lord Jesus,
With all of my heart,
You rose to set me free.
YOU, LORD, HAVE THE VICTORY!
