The Beginning and The End
by Kent Viklund

In the beginning, God created,
setting things in motion
A spinning ball hung out in space
Surrounded by an ocean

As light appeared, the hills arose,
pushing seas aside
Then flowers, crops, and trees burst forth
He looked at them with pride

The moon and stars were set in place
to monitor the seasons
Birds filled the air, fish swarmed the deep
God must have had good reasons

The land began to come alive
with every sort of creature
But God was not quite finished yet
His plan had one more feature

So far He simply spoke His Word
to give this world a start
But then we see Him scooping earth
For one last work of art

This carefully He formed and shaped
like gold out from a fire
A man that He called Adam
To fulfill his heart's desire

God's breath then brought man's form to life
but he was not complete
While slumbering, a rib's removed
Eve joins him at God's feet

But Satan couldn't stand God's joy,
so he worked out a plan
To separate them from their Lord
Forever if he can

Unknown to devils and to man,
God's plan was even greater
To multiply men on the earth
Then bring to them a Savior

God's Son was sent to die
for us upon that awful tree
He's judged our adversary
To set all mankind free

So patiently we all wait now,
to watch the end unfold
The fruition of His promises
He surely will uphold
