YOUR EMBRACE
by Jeannine McMullen

My blessed Saviour hung on Calvary's tree
I wonder what You were thinking, was it of me?
Did You think of what You had said
As You looked over Jerusalem, there as You bled?

You said You would have gathered her children
Together as a hen does her own
But they would not listen
Is that why tears on Your cheeks glistened?

The people You came to save watched as You died
Not one of them listened to You as You cried
Father forgive them they know not what they do
They just stood and continued to mock and scorn You

My precious Saviour with Your arms open wide
Like the wings of the hen, beckoning us inside
To come and receive forgiveness in the cleansing flow
Bringing healing and forgiveness to those who would know

There is love and strength in Your embrace
And the giving of courage to run the race
You will bear us up on eagle's wings
Give us life anew and reason to sing

In times of trial we will shelter in You
For You are our stronghold and refuge
We will dwell in the shadow of Your wings
And find rest from all manner of things

My blessed Saviour who cleansed my soul
You strengthen me and make me whole
I know You will help me face all the world has to offer
And I will stay in Your embrace from now til my final hour

Then from a stronghold and refuge to mansion I will go
All because I choose You and the cleansing flow
No more sorrow or tears or fears for me
I'll be home with You on bended knee
