SITTING ON THE EDGE OF BABYLON
by Rick Case © 2007

I am sitting on the edge of Babylon,
Trying to remember your name,
If I remembered what I called you,
It would be on my tongue in loud proclaim.

Far west I have come,
Over the setting sun,
I used to know your name,
I am so undone.

I am sitting on the edge of Babylon,
My hope locked in ancient disgrace,
Oh, I so know your name would come,
If I could only see your face.

No rest shall come to me,
All the days of my years,
If I should not recall your name,
My eyes shall melt to tears.

Then at the dawning break,
You call to me, a soft voice given,
My heart is reunited with your name,
It says to me, FORGIVEN.
