The Enemy of Serenity

What can shame be is an enemy
Of grace, and peace, and serenity
Its aim is to hold you in its vice
It keeps you paying a costly price
With fear as chains that bind
They keep you paralized
And the place you're mean to be
In the distance you can't see
Only found by confession and truth
Is a place of freedom for you
But the chains that keep you bound
The burden that holds you down
Can only be loosed by sharing the truth
Shame will flee from you as you do
For confession is good for the soul
It heals you and makes you whole
Jesus is the One who breaks every chain
He forgives sin, and blots out each stain
And leads you into that place that is free
Of grace, and peace, and serenity.
