Reflection on the Beatitudes

Blessed are those who show mercy,
blessed are those who are true,
blessed are those who believe in the Lord,
and try his good works to do.

Blessed are those who are peaceful,
blessed are those who are meek,
blessed are those who live by the Word,
and try God's council to seek.

Don't let your spirit be weary,
don't let your heart be afraid,
believe in Jesus and bathe in His light,
don't let your love for Him fade.

The road to Heaven is stony,
many the paths that are wrong,
take hold the hand of our Saviour,
and He will help you along.

We all have crosses to carry,
just keep your eyes on the road,
remember Jesus at Calvary,
carried a heavier load.

He is our Friend and our Saviour;
He is our present and past.
He points the way to Heaven.
There we will meet Him at last.
