Every Mother's Dream

My mind is walking back in time
When I heard that first cry
Holding her little heart to mine
Closed my eyes with a sigh

Feeling a flood of emotion
That only a Mother could know
My baby for just a moment
But someday she will go

How quickly the years have passed
A young man is at my door
The deepest dimples I ever saw
I wonder what he's here for

Then I saw her smile at him
A love that tenderly grew
Maybe some tears and struggles
But his heart was always true

My mind is walking back in time
When she was just a child
But standing here before me
Is a man who is sweet and mild

Feeling a flood of emotion
As understanding comes to me
The time for her to go is here
With this beautiful man I see

And every Mother prays for this
A Godly man indeed
For he is every Mother's dream
As a Pastor he will lead

And yet so much more to him
He's a son and a friend
He is every Mother's dream
A man only God could send
