WHERE HAVE ALL OUR MORALS GONE
by Stan Arney © 2008

I want to know, where have all our morals gone
You know the codes of ethics we relied upon
The rules that God gave us, our foundation for life
To guide us here and prepare for the afterlife
When did it become wrong to say, 'Mam' or 'Sir'
Or to call a parent by Misses or Mister
They are words that show proper respect, I thought
But I guess now days that's not what kids are taught
When did promiscuity become acceptable
I mean, come on what's wrong with you people
Why is it so easy to marry and to divorce
It has become tolerable without any remorse
Single parent families have become the norm
Mothers here's your children, for child support sign this form
Fathers have been relegated to a meal ticket
Doesn't anyone else see anything wrong with it
We wonder why our children have no direction
Some are involved in gangs and carry a gun
Many of our kids are lost to alcohol and drugs
Yet we have the nerve to call our children thugs
They mimic what they see their friends and parents do
Come on, you don't need me to give you that true clue
It seems the whole world has gotten knocked off its kilter
Suicide has become a way out, a road to prefer
It may seem that I paint a bleak picture indeed
But I bet there is no point that can be disagreed
What is the answer, where is there a solution
The answer comes from accepting God's only Son
Next reading your Bible and taking it to heart
For any answer, it's the first place we should start
We can make a difference one person at a time
Now that's an optimistic view to end this rhyme.
