My Love Story

God, write the love story of my life,
I'm giving the pen to you.
Whenever I try to write it myself
Love fails and I disappoint you.

Whenever I date outside of your will,
I always know it's not right
But I tend to try to heal the relationship
And hold it together with all of my might.

When the relationship finally falls apart,
I know it was for the best.
You're teaching me to wait for your perfect will.
To be patient, be still, and rest.

But I'm content, oh God to wait for you,
Til you bring that special guy into my life.
I want him to know that I love the Lord
And I'll be a godly, faithful wife.

I want him to know that I've waited for him,
Was patient and kept myself pure.
I want the trust between us to last
And our love to always endure.

So write the love story of my life,
I'm giving the pen to you
I'll be patient and wait for your perfect will
And glorify you in all that I do.
