ONE DAY AT A TIME

I walk with my Saviour one day at a time,
Through the deep gloom of a dark valley wide.
Or in brightness of joy when the mountain I climb,
His hand guiding me as He walks by my side.

He will give me strength for the cares of today,
One day at a time His grace He will send.
Careless sinners make plans for a time far away,
Living as if their lives will never come to an end.

Your time is today and tomorrows’ bright sun
May never again shine upon your face.
For in the gasp of a breath your life will be run.
Then what of your soul if you have rejected saving grace?

Boast not of tomorrow, it may never be yours,
One day at a time and no more.
Consider this day in its’ fast fleeting hours,
The chill hand of death may knock on your door.

Yes, one day, at a time ye know not,
When death will cast its’ black shroud.
Oh, what of your soul if you are not blood bought,
And never to Jesus you have bowed.

But, dear Christian friend, one day at a time,
His grace is sufficient for thee.
When the valley is black and the mountain steep to climb,
He softly whispers, look unto me.

‘Tis enough for today, fret not of tomorrow,
One day at a time, I will gently lead on.
I know of your pain and all of your sorrow,
I am with you today as in the days that have gone.

Lean on me child for I'm loving you,
When the waves of suffering over you sweep.
One day at a time I will carry you through,
And lift you up from the deep.

Yes, dear Lord help me walk with you,
Just one day at a time.
And when on my brow lies deaths’ cold dew,
Up to heaven and Glory my soul it will climb.

One day at a time I walk with my Lord,
One day at a time He whispers, I am close beside thee.
One day at a time I trust in his Word,
One day, everyday, anytime He is always there for me.
