He loves me, He loves me not
by bugsbugs0 © 2008

I was plucking daisy petals
one by one
When the father asked:
"What are you doing, my son?"

"I'm asking if Jesus loves me,
but perhaps the daisies have gone to pot
for the answer is always "He loves me not."
I go to church and say my prayers
try to be good and control my affairs
but it seems to me that I've gone astray
and that gives a feeling of utter dismay."

"And so it should," the father said,
shaking his white and venerable head.
"What is that for slack behaviour
questioning the wisdom of our Saviour?
The petals say: 'He loves me not'
but they haven't really gone to pot,
for when you pluck them, it means you're not sure;
that your belief in Jesus is immature."

Now here is a moral that is plain to see:
Give your all to Jesus and set yourself free
realize His love
and let daises be."
