Joseph
by Katrina L Mitchell © 2008

Envious eyes and jealous hearts
Cast you in despair
They turned their backs and walked away
For dead they left you there

Ah-Ha, Ah-Ha; Now tell us of your dream
Unknowing to your brothers
You were rescued to safety
As strangers heard your screams

Drawn up from hell
You were sold for a slave
First to Potiphar, then to prison
But with integrity you behaved

Held in chains of iron
Until the time your word came
Those you loved tried to bury your dream
Yet your destiny remained the same

In one day, with one word
From the prison, to the throne
The Lord was there the entire time
Taking you where you belong
