I Am Nothing
by Kathleen Higham

Oh my God I beg you
I know I cannot please
A vileness still in my heart
Once more I'm on my knees.

Human frailty claims me
With no thought of my fate
The sin so familiar now
I grasped it, didn't hesitate.

I have cried to you for peace
I do not want this sin
It takes me back, holds me
Dwells deep, deep within.

Why now, why now, I ask?
After all these difficult years
My weakness sears my heart
Bringing on a flood of tears.

I am nothing without you
Yet still, I fall so low
A promise vague, but haunting
Where now can I go?

Oh my God I beg you
My shame it will not leave
Your Word seems out of reach
But, my soul wants to believe.

Human frailty claims me
Is my sin here to stay?
Oh my God I beg you
Come take this sin away.

I am nothing without you
And no one can defile
I trust you will come for me
Then release me from this trial.
