Psalm 42...Paraphrased
by Gertrude Jefferies

Though born in a season of failure
This song shall still echo my praise.
For you're still my God when I'm downcast,
As you are on happier days.

Though my vict'ries now may be small ones,
I stand with confidence and hope,
I will sing with joy and assurance
That your hand will work it all out.

I know that the God of the mountains
Is the same when I'm in the vale.
His love that I share on the hilltops
Remains strong, even when I fail.

David was your beloved servant,
A man who was close to your heart.
But he knew your love and your presence
Though from your Will he did depart.

So Lord, in the midst of my failures,
Though now, I am downcast and blue,
In my heart there is this confidence,
Almighty God will bring me through !
