The Lord Pled my Case
by Danette Kettwich © 2008

The gavel fell, my sentence read

I closed my eyes I bowed my head

My humanity is my fate

But You, Lord my God, Pled my case.

I stand guilty of humanity

I stand guilty of my shame

In the pits of depravity

You stood and called my name

You Lord pled my case.

One prayer, my bond was paid

At the cross my sin was laid

I gave my heart You saved my life

I am now the living sacrifice

You called me from the dark of night

You stood by me bathed me in light

You called my name before my fate

Because it was You Lord, who pled my case.

A life that was soon to unravel

You called me from the darkened shadow

Before the drop of the wooden gavel

One drop of blood, saved by grace

For it was You, Lord, who pled my case!
