My Mother
by tisha todd

From the very first day I remember her,
She had such love in her eyes
She had a gentle, quiet spirit
In her heart she was so very wise.

She was a woman of many wonders
Wearing hats of many names
A seamstress, designer, songwriter
Among several other things..

But in spite of all her talents, her gifts, her laughter, her dreams..
She knew her highest calling, was that of "mother"
before anything.

I have my fondest memories of the times she stood by me
Sharing with me many insights, encouragement, plans and schemes.
Teaching me to be a lady, making me clothes fit for a queen
This lady I call my mother was a gift fit for a king.

The hours she heard me singing
And would train me to hold high keys
She always knew the day would come
when a new song was what I'd sing.

Mothers are one in a million
Their value worth more than anything
This world and all it's riches
Can't compare to the love she can bring.

Many years have come and gone now
Much to my amazement and my surprise
There are times when I know she still sees me down here
You see, she sees me through heaven's eyes.
