Upon the Potter's Wheel by Patricia Joan Polhans As He sat down at the potter's wheel He began a vessel formed for his will. Hands wet with water and with clay He began to form without delay. Smoothing every spot and every wrinkle For His goal was to make the perfect vessel, To conform him to his image and his likeness He worked diligently in the still quietness. At times the clay would not conform Struggling to have a will of its' own. But try as He might, the Potter could not Make something useful from the old pot. Heartbroken as he walked away only to return again another day. Day after day and week after week He contemplated the image he'd make Hoping to conform an image like He Each time changing His strategy. Then excitement grew within His heart When the clay began to do its own part. The clay that desired his own will Now, lay in submission on the Potter's wheel. Romans 12:1,2 "...Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." |
