The Holy Spirit's Child
by Patricia Joan Polhans

Joseph led the donkey thru'
the cold and pouring rain.
Upon its back was Mary
having growing labor pains.

Night drug on, while traveling
Across the lonesome prairie,
As they sought a place of rest,
shelter for his Virgin Mary;

A place to birth the Christ child
that she was about to bare.
So Joseph searched diligently
in such extensive despair.

But there's no room at the inn,
there was nothing there at all.
So they took up their residence
in a lowly horses stall.

Mary had been chosen as
the holy virgin vessel,
A home for Immanuel
as he grew into the Savior.

An immaculate conception
was given to Mary in love
As the Spirit came upon her
in the form of a white dove.

His wings hovered over her
while Mary was fast asleep,
A gift from heaven above,
a Christmas gift conceived.

Excitement came upon her
as her time grew very near.
The birthing room they'd chosen;
a stable in cold night air.

Her time was upon her as
Mary groaned in great travail.
The Messiah, then, came forth
during her last drawn out wail.

The babe was born a Savior
to redeem sins of the world,
Born to Joseph and Mary,
the innocent virgin girl.

The babe 'came a shining light
for the whole wide world to see
And Mary, Joseph and Jesus
had become a holy trinity.

This day 'came known as Christmas
after the babe so meek and mild
Because He was the Son of God,
the precious Holy Spirit's child!

Matthew 1:20
"...an angel of the Lord appeared to him (Joseph) in a dream and said,
"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid
to take Mary home as your wife,
because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit."
