The Promise in the Sky by Patricia Joan Polhans The rainbow with all of its hues of color, The blues, the purples and a few others, Has always been a great mystery to me And I've often wondered 'bout its history. I've thought about all the reasons why Such a hue of color was placed in the sky. It doesn't light the horizon after the day is done Or give off warmth like heat from the sun. It doesn't light the sky with the evening stars Or twinkle and shine to be seen from afar. What could be the purpose for this colorful bow? For it doesn't shine like the moon or even glow. There seems to be an int'rest 'bout this thing For it only peaks out after a dreary rain. I looked and watched every time that it came And sure enough, bursting 'cross the sky it came. So I searched and searched to find the answer. Why was it there? It just made me wonder! For it hangs there with all its brilliance of colors, Showing itself off like all of heaven's wonders. As I looked for answers, I 'as handed a book. I searched through its pages, I looked and looked. Could there be a solution in such a simple place? So, I kept on reading as my heart 'gan to race. It was unlike any other book that I'd read And to find answers within made my heart so glad! The words jumped off the pages right as I 'as reading For I discovered the bow was put there for a reason. It was a promise from God! I just never knew That he spoke these words and they became true! It was his promise to us and that's the reason why God had placed the rainbow up in the sky. He promised to ne'er 'gain destroy the world by flood. Isn't that like God to send a sign from above? Now, I know and understand all the reasons why. That God had placed a promise in the sky! Genesis 9:12-15 12 And God said, "This is a sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you...for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me an |
