The Writer's Journey by Kathleen Higham What a journey this has been For my thoughts, a woman asks A new friend comes from afar I tell her of a monumental task. Requesting that I walk her through Not realizing her gift is Divine She didn't know how burdensome I crawled through this book of mine. There were relentless complications My skills so pitifully incomplete I tossed the book a dozen times Often, poems scattered at my feet. I begged the question every day Why God would choose my mind His words flowed wihout me Each poem from Him defined. It was beyond my imagination As I wrote, "Is this my last?" It seems we've covered everything Even my intimate and painful past. But still my words written here For a time, no end in sight My God is so perfectly poetic His words come, bring delight. What a journey this has been And God will walk me through Another book will grace the page These things my God will do. As my heart opens to His thoughts I pray the writer's prayer This journey pens a passionate plea Once more, God takes me there. |
