Under The Bridge
by Kathleen Higham

Basking in the warmth of the sun
Blue waters surrounding me
Floating under a bridge in peace
Exactly where I want to be.

For some life is not so kind
Under the bridge unspeakable horror
Women, children, and broken men
Under the bridge without a door.

It seems they cannot leave there
My mind questions, why?
Why would anyone stay there?
In my heart, a mournful sigh.

My bridge brought me beauty
My life was pained, but free
Under the bridge are people
For some reason they cannot see.

They wander sometimes weary
Others lost in sorrow, despair
While I float under my bridge
With no thought, or a care.

Lord, I call on You this day
There has to be something more
I pray in earnest to You
About the bridge without a door.

Only You can save them
I implore You, open wide
The door to that lonely bridge
Bring each soul to Your side.

Under the bridge, Your presence
As the door to hell is sealed
Touching every hurting heart
When to them, You are revealed.
