When I look in the mirror by Cheryl Messier When I look in the mirror, who do I see? Is that image reflected true? Is it an illusion of who I've become? It screams back, "Stranger who are you?" When I look in the mirror, what do I feel? Do I LOVE the eyes staring at me? Or are they a symbol of secret hurts, That clouded my ability to be? When I look in the mirror, why do I cry? Am I searching for a lost life? Am I really JUST a chameleon, who faithfully changes, From mother to lover to wife? When I look in the mirror, does my heart truly know There is a wonderful soul deep inside? Do I refuse to let myself see who I am? Do I just allow my self-worth to slide? When I look in the mirror, what do I see? I think I am starting to see the truth. Jesus is finally breaking the walls, I am forgiven and free from MY youth. When I look in the mirror, who do I see? Through the eyes of THIS stranger, I think I finally see ME |
