Grandmas' Passing by Patricia Joan Polhans A dear, elderly white haired Grandma Was lying in a hospital bed. So tiny and frail, but she had only A few precious moments to live. She talked with the angels dressed in white While they surrounded her soft, warm bed. They struck up a private conversation, Tho' no one heard what was being said. Except the quiet, white haired Grandma whose precious life lay in the balance. As she hovered between life and death There came two foes of her alliance. Will it be the angels that 're in black, Or could it be the angels in white That will fight for her unmarked soul To come, steal it from the Lord tonight? They raged war, there, in the heavenlies, Principalities were broken down. But none knew of the spiritual war Except the angels who held her crown. Darkness or light, which one would prevail While evil was seen in the dark angels' eyes! As lightning rumbled and demon's wailed Lightning bolts soared 'cross the darkened skies. Suddenly, the angel of darkness was no more The dear Grandma lay peacefully still For heaven's angels had won the battle She had no knowledge of the war of will. The angel of light reached out to her For to Grandma he was no stranger. He took her hand, led her safely home And demons dared not even wager! "We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against the principalities and powers of darkness in wicked places." |
