Ananias
by Albert Watson

My name is Ananias a great story I relate
here in Damascus there's a street called Straight.
Today I've had a vision, God requested me to call
on a resident in Judas house his name is Saul.
This one had been a scourge to the Christian populace,
gaining letters from authorities believers he would trace.
Because of faith in Jesus they'd find themselves in jail,
Saul's the one who captured, with invective he did rail.
But God had favour on him surrounded him with light,
totally confounded for three days lost his sight.
Heard these words from heaven "Saul you persecute me".
"Oh my Lord who are you,"
"It's Jesus don't you see."
I laid my hands upon him with wonder and surprise,
things that looked like scales then fell from off his eyes.
Seeing, now requested that we the Church baptize,
into death we buried him, alive in Christ did rise.
In the vision Father told me of the future consequence,
this man who we had baptized would alter world events.
As I listened to his calling I knew he'd travel miles,
his commission was preach to Jews, but mainly to Gentiles.
