For the Sake of Our Children

Labeled “Victims of Society”
they come from broken homes
they lack the love of parents
abuse they’ve always known.

Haunting images and memories
their anger set afire
not caring for their siblings,
nor mother, less their father.

All innocence was taken
from whom they trusted most
deceived and misguided
they turn to drugs of course.

Children bearing children
and sexual promiscuity
they're killing one another
they live so carelessly.

We wonder how this came about
but take a look around
our government lacks values
for God was taken down.

Prayers not allowed in schools
nor bibles can be read
the Ten Commandments given to us
no longer are displayed.

What future can they hope for?
all dreams have been destroyed
opportunity not given
for them to be restored.

Parents have to sacrifice
the time they say they lack
bending knees and praying
to take our children back.

For the sake of our children
we need to intercede
Dear Lord, save our children
for they need you desperately.
