Stolen Birthday by Patricia Joan Polhans I wonder how that it would make you feel If the Father gave his most precious gift Only to have his present pushed aside For selfish idols, seemingly, so magnif'. Wouldn't it break your aching heart If you'd given your only valued prize, To a generation of sinful fools Only to have them toss it aside? Well that's just what has happened As horrible as it currently seems, They took away my Savior's birth For foolish wishes and childlike dreams. They have turned themselves aside To worship idols and worthless Gods Such as jolly men in old red suits Calling himself the great "Santa Clause." They never even begin to mention The child born that night long ago And they never tell how much he loves them People this man in red just has to go. The Father gave the gift of his Son, As a present for the world to share But some reject him and turn away To worthless idols that come to ensnare. Now his birthday has been changed Into Santa Claus, jolly, and fat ole men Wearing red suits and white beards Anything silly, they can dress him in. They tell children he lives at the North Pole How can they speak such wicked lies? They even say he comes down a chimney That'd never be big enough for you or I. They never even mention my precious Savior Or give thought to any of his righteous ways And now it just makes me want to cry! For my Savior's birthday they've taken away! So, if you can, please return right now This day from 'Clause and cute little elves For now it's become so very full blown. And stop keeping it all for yourselves! For this holiday does not belong to you It was robbed and taken away One thing I know and this is for sure You've have stolen his only birthday! So return to him your spiritual gifts That he gives to all those who ask And turn aside these make believe myths For His birthday you must give back! |
